A drone show looks spectacular, but the picture in the sky comes with big money, weeks of preparation and dependence on the weather. Here is what it costs and what can replace it.
What a drone show costs
A small show with dozens of drones costs tens of thousands of rubles, but looks modest. A show with hundreds of drones, visible from the stands or a city square, costs from hundreds of thousands to millions. For reference: in 2026 a district in the Komi Republic tendered a drone show for a public holiday at 3.52 million rubles.
Preparation takes from two weeks to two months. Flights need permits, and cities have no-fly zones. Wind or rain can cancel the show at the last minute. Drones can’t fly indoors.
The stands instead of the sky
Every viewer already has a phone with a flashlight. A QR code appears on the scoreboard, people open the page in the browser, and the stands flash to the music on a cue from the sound desk.
- Launch in minutes, no flight permits
- Works indoors and in any weather
- The crowd takes part instead of looking at the sky
- After the show every participant sees a sponsor promo or prize draw in the browser
For stadiums the price starts from 30,000 ₽ for audiences up to 1,000, fixed per event. For bigger stands see the calculator.
When to pick drones and when flashlights
- You need a picture in the sky and have a big budget and time: drones
- A show over water watched from the shore: drones
- You need to engage the stands quickly and affordably: flashlights
- The event is indoors or the weather is unpredictable: flashlights
- You need contact with viewers after the show: flashlights
The formats can be combined: drones for the opening, stands with flashlights for the finale. City celebrations face a similar choice: see a city day show and what to use instead of fireworks.
How it looks at a match: the Krylia Sovetov vs CSKA case. The format for clubs is on the stadium pre-match show page.
