Couples look for a wedding moment that will be remembered more than games and toasts. There are dozens of light options, and prices differ twentyfold. Let’s look at what each format gives and where it fits.
Lighting decor
Light starts with the decor: string lights over the tables, candles, a neon sign with the couple’s names, marquee letters, wall and column uplighting in the wedding colours. It works all evening and looks great in photos, but it does not create a moment of its own. Decor comes from a decorator, and some of it is provided by the venue.
Fireworks and fire shows
Fireworks remain a classic finale for a country wedding. The downsides: an open site and the owner’s permission are needed, there are time and neighbour restrictions, and it depends on the weather. In the city and at restaurants fireworks are usually banned.
A fire show usually costs from 15–20 thousand rubles for a 5–10 minute act. Also outdoors only or in a very large hall. Beautiful, but guests stand aside at a safe distance.
Light from the guests
Many weddings have a moment when guests light up the couple themselves: sparklers at the exit, phone flashlights during the first dance. It is popular because everyone takes part. But the flashlights are out of sync, and sparklers are not allowed everywhere. Below is how to make that moment synchronised.
LED-costume performers
A 5–10 minute act, guests watch from the side. Beautiful, usually from 25,000 ₽. A good opener for the evening, but it doesn’t involve the guests.
Heavy smoke and cold fountains
A first dance classic: beautiful by the stage and in the photographer’s shot, but the room stays an audience. Fireworks aren’t allowed at every venue, see the options in what to use instead of fireworks. A fire show or a pyro show at a wedding is also watched from the side, and not every venue allows it.
Drone shows
Outdoors only, depends on weather and permits, a visible show costs hundreds of thousands of rubles. An option for a country wedding with a big budget. A laser wedding show doesn’t depend on weather, but it needs a dark room and rigging, and guests still only watch.
A show from guests’ phones
Guests scan a QR code, raise their phones, and the whole room flashes to the couple’s song. Everyone takes part without leaving their seat. No app or equipment is needed, and the host or DJ launches the show from their desk.
Ideas for the wedding finale
- The last song of the night: the lights go down, guests raise their phones, the couple is in the middle of a glowing room
- A first dance surprise: the room switches on flashlights on the host’s cue
- A shared light salvo instead of fireworks, indoors or on a terrace
