A restaurant with a show: types of shows and which number to add

People look for a restaurant with a show for two reasons. Guests want an evening with something to watch besides dinner. Party organisers look for a venue where the programme already exists and does not have to be built from scratch. Here is what shows restaurants offer, how to choose a place for a celebration, and what a restaurant itself can add to its banquet offer.

Types of restaurant shows

  • Live music. A cover band, jazz, a violinist, a singer. The most common option, especially on Fridays and Saturdays
  • Cabaret and variety. Dance numbers, costumes, a programme in several acts. Usually separate venues with tickets or a deposit
  • Immersive dinner. A play unfolds right at the tables, guests get roles. More about the genre in the article on immersive shows
  • Show kitchen. The chef cooks in front of guests: teppanyaki, flambé, open fire
  • Karaoke and stand-up nights. A programme where guests take part or laugh together
  • Themed nights. Cinema, the 90s, Latin, DJ parties

How to choose a restaurant with a show for a celebration

  • Check which days the programme runs: often only at weekends
  • Ask whether you can book the whole room and play your own music
  • Ask about the deposit and corkage if you bring your own drinks or cake
  • Ask for a video of the programme, not just photos of the interior
  • Check the sound and screen: useful for speeches and your own numbers

For a corporate party or birthday of 40–100 people a banquet hall that allows your own programme is more convenient: you bring the host and the numbers, the restaurant handles food and service.

An unusual number for a restaurant

We make a light show out of guests’ phones. A QR code on the screen or table tents, guests scan it, raise their phones, and the whole room’s flashlights flash in time with the music. The signal travels via ultrasound through the restaurant’s speakers, so no app, internet or equipment rental is needed.

A DJ controls the room’s flashlights from the sound desk

In a restaurant the show works well at three points of the programme:

  • Bringing out the cake or a signature dessert: the room dims, guests’ phones light up
  • Congratulating the birthday person or the newlyweds
  • Starting the dance part with the DJ

For restaurants and banquet halls

The show can be added to the banquet menu as your own service. We provide a QR code, an admin panel and instructions, and your DJ or manager runs it. Terms with a trade discount of up to 30% on the hosts and agencies page. For a one-off banquet, from 10,000 ₽ for up to 100 guests.

FAQ

Do all the lights need to go off? Dimming is better. Flashlights are visible in soft light, and in the dark the effect is stronger.

Will the show disturb other restaurant guests? The show works through the sound of the room where the speakers are. If the banquet is in a separate room, other guests will barely notice it.
