A children’s party works differently from an adult one. Attention spans are shorter, energy is higher, and there are really two audiences: children and parents. A good programme holds the first without tiring the second. Here is how to organise a children’s event, which shows to choose and what to think about in advance.
A programme by age
- Ages 3–6. 1–1.5 hours, short 10–15 minute blocks, lots of movement. Loud effects and total darkness can be scary
- Ages 7–10. Up to 2–2.5 hours. They love competitions, quests, science experiments, shows they can join
- Ages 11–14. They dislike anything “childish”. Quests, discos, workshops and anything they can film on a phone work better
Shows people book for a children’s party
- A science show. Dry ice, liquid nitrogen, chemical reactions. Children and parents both enjoy it
- A bubble show. Giant bubbles, a child inside a bubble. Good for younger kids
- A paper show. Paper cannons, confetti, and in the finale children run through piles of paper
- Entertainers and quests. Favourite characters, story-based games
- A magician. A short act with children from the audience
- An interactive light show. Details below
Team building for kids in simple terms
Team building for children means games where the result depends on the whole team, not the single fastest child. Build a tower of cups, complete a quest, assemble a shared picture. Such games are common at camps, primary school graduations and the first gathering of a new class. The main rule: tasks everyone can manage, so that no one is left out.
New Year shows for children
A New Year party revolves around Ded Moroz and presents, but children need something to do before he arrives. A shared action works well: calling Ded Moroz together, lighting the tree. This can be done with light: parents and older children raise their phones, flashlights flash to the music, and at the peak the tree lights up.
A light show for children and parents
Our show runs on phones: viewers scan a QR code, and flashlights flash in time with the music on a signal from the speakers. Young children do not have phones, so in a children’s hall parents and schoolchildren light up, and the little ones watch the whole room turn into one garland. At a family celebration it is a rare moment all generations take part in.
For a young audience we choose smooth modes: shimmer, waves, screen colour changes. We do not use sharp rapid flashes. From 10,000 ₽ per party for up to 100 guests.
Safety
- A venue without sharp corners or slippery floors, a separate area for the youngest
- A first aid kit, parents’ contacts, a list of allergies
- One adult for every 8–10 children if parents do not stay
- No open pyrotechnics or fire indoors
- A calm break with food and water in the middle of the programme
FAQ
How long should a children’s party last? For pre-schoolers 1–1.5 hours of active programme, for schoolchildren up to 2–2.5 hours including food.
How to keep parents busy? Coffee and snacks in a separate area, a photo zone, and a shared moment at the end where everyone joins. Children want their parents to watch and take part.
