During “A Romance with an Emigrant” at TChK Theatre (Nizhny Novgorod) the hall became part of the stage. As the action unfolded, the audience’s phone flashlights lit up together, and the audience found itself playing the paparazzi Vertinsky walks out to.
A viewer scans a QR code, a page opens in the browser, and the phone becomes part of the light picture. No app and no equipment. How the flashlights sync is explained in our ultrasound article.
This run was a turning point for us. Before it we made shows with phone screens, and in lit halls the effect got lost. In the theatre flashlights worked noticeably better, and from then on we built shows around them.
Other immersive formats and how they differ are in our immersive show overview.
This run and what we learned from it were covered in an article about us. Shows for plays, celebrations and corporate events are on the event light show page.
