Salutes on public grounds have been banned in Russia since 2013. Even “cold” versions often require permits, and indoors or near residential buildings they are simply not allowed. Brides and organizers actively look for replacements in forums and chats.
Pyrotechnic companies themselves sell “alternatives”: cold fountains, heavy smoke, colored smoke, sparklers. Let’s look at what they actually deliver and what they don’t.
Cold fountains
Beautiful and safe on stage, they produce a tall column of sparks. But the effect is only on stage: guests in the hall barely see it and don’t participate. Price for a 1–2 minute set starts at 15–30k.
Heavy smoke and colored smoke
Great for photos and video, creates atmosphere. But it’s a stage or zone decoration, not a finale where the whole hall takes part. Consumables and cleanup afterwards.
Sparklers and handheld sparklers
Cheap and fun, everyone can hold one. But fire-hazardous indoors, short effect, mess and smell. Not suitable for a large hall or a real “wow” ending.
Balloons and confetti
Budget option. Balloons can be helium-filled or simply released. Confetti is bright but quickly settles and needs cleaning. More “festive noise” than a unified picture.
Light salvo from guests’ phones
Guests raise their phones and the entire hall lights up in a powerful synchronized light salvo at the same moment. Controlled by the host or sound engineer. Works in any indoor space and outdoors, no pyrotechnics, no permits, no cleanup.
Every guest participates. That is the main advantage. The effect is visible from the stage and from the stands, it looks like one big light explosion. After the show guests receive promo and content on their phones.
Price from 10,000 ₽ per event. No need to order a separate “finale”: it is part of the show that is already running.
More about the format in the Corporate events and weddings section. Types of light shows and price comparison in the overview of light show types. A real indoor finale at the planetarium with light from guests’ phones is in the case.
Why fireworks are increasingly impossible
Banned on public grounds. Venues refuse due to insurance and neighbours. Complaints from residents near the location come regularly. Indoors fire safety does not allow it at all: sparks and smoke are prohibited.

- Up to 10k: balloons and sparklers outdoors, cheap and simple
